The board of directors of the Antwerp World Diamond Centre (AWDC) has paid tribute to its former president Jacky Roth by naming him as its “Honorary President.” Mr. Roth stepped down as AWDC president in June, after serving four years in the position.

 
Mr. Roth has been associated with the organisation for almost 20 years. He was elected in 1982 to serve on the board of what was then called the HRD (Diamond High Council). He was elected HRD president in 2004, after a long stint as vice president.
 
The HRD was restructured into the AWDC in 2006, and Mr. Roth became its first president.
 
Mr. Roth, who was born in Antwerp in 1933, has been involved in the city’s diamond industry for almost 60 years.
