EATING OUT IN ANTWERP

Drawing on its history as a port where all types of food, beverages, herbs and spices from distant lands arrived, today Antwerp continues to offer a wide range of restaurants to suit every taste. In this cosmopolitan city you’ll find a whole range of European, ethnic and organic cuisine and traditional restaurants. The best places to find a meal to match your mood are in the areas around the historic city centre, the Central Station and the southern quarters.

An abundance of local and international restaurants, inns and pubs can be found in the area of Suikerrui, Hoogstraat, Reyndersstraat, Vlasmarkt, Grote Pieter Potstraat, Ernest Van Dyckkaai, Zirkstraat and Wolstraat. Pizza, pasta, mezze and pita bars can be found in Oude Koornmarkt and Pelgrimstraat or try a variety of restaurants with terraces overlooking the attractive squares in Grote Markt, Groenplaats, Handschoenmarkt, H. Conscienceplein, Lijnwaadmarkt and Veemarkt.

Popular spots with terraces abound in Vlaamse en Waalse Kaai, Gentplaats - Leopold de Waelplaats, Leopold de Waelstraat, Graaf van Hoornstraat and Kasteelpleinstraat serve vegetarian cuisine. Bistros and pubs also line the streets.
