5 tips to effectively prepare for selection tests

In addition to interviews, companies often use selection tests as part of the recruitment procedure.  This way, the employer is able to determine the suitability of the job applicant. A selection test can identify candidates’ strengths and weaknesses and give a slightly better view on their personality. On this basis, the company can decide whether or not an applicant is eligible for the position. So it is important to be well prepared:

* Make sure you are well rested. Also make sure you have plenty of time on the day of the test, so don’t plan any other appointments.

* Make sure that you have read the assignment thoroughly and completely and understand exactly what is required. If something is not clear, ask for additional info.

* Don’t waste time during the test. For some assignments, speed is important.

* Don’t get discouraged if you find a question difficult. It is not necessary for you to solve everything on the test. The test results are compared with the results of a reference group.

* Make sure to ask for your test results and a feedback session.
