6 tips for making sure your CV gets noticed !

Your CV is your personal ticket to the labor market. For obvious reasons, it is very important that yours grabs the attention of potential employers. Keep these tips in mind to get your CV noticed.

1. Structure your CV

Nothing is worse than a chaotic curriculum vitae. The most common sections are: your personal information, your education and training, work experience, language skills, computer proficiency and miscellaneous info.  Work chronologically (with the most recent item at the top) whenever possible.

2. Place your contact info at the top

Your name, telephone number and email address are the most important items. It is also a good idea to add the link to your LinkedIn profile.

3. Write concisely and to the point

Be aware that people have to read all you have written. A page and a half to two pages is the absolute maximum. Turn your CV in to a clear and visually attractive document. Employ logical sentence construction and add bullet points where necessary. A recruiter should be able to find all the important information immediately. Additionally, use a font that appeals to you, but above all one that is highly legible.

4. Make sure all the information is accurate

The information in your CV must be correct. A golden tip: pay attention to spelling. Most recruiters are allergic to writing mistakes. Also make sure to double-check your cover letter for errors.

5. Fill in the gaps in your CV

When gaps exist in your CV, it is best to indicate what you did during these periods of time. Perhaps you had just graduated and did not immediately find a job, you took a sabbatical or circumstances made it impossible for you to work for a while. Always explain them in positive terms: you were searching for a job that was truly suitable, you wanted to see the world, etc.

6. Have someone read your CV

A second opinion is always very important. After a while, you will no longer be able to read what is written, but rather what you think is written. In this way, you will avoid ambiguities and spelling mistakes.

By following these six tips, your CV will undoubtedly be a success. We wish you a positive outcome in your search for a job!
