Is a diamond certificate necessary when buying a diamond?

A diamond certificate is a diamond’s passport, issued by specialized laboratories. Authorized and independent gemologists examine the stone and describe its specifications based on the 4 Cs. In addition, all imperfections and dimensions are listed on the certificate.
The certificate serves to inform consumers about the diamond they wish to purchase. However, it is not a form of valuation and therefore not necessary when buying a diamond.
