Discover the Kempen Diamond Center!

During the course of the 20th century, considerable diamond industry expertise was built up in Kempen. Due to downturn in the town’s diamond processing activities in the late 1980s and technological innovations in the industry, the history surrounding the Kempen Stone seemed doomed to disappear.

For this reason, a number of former diamond cutters and polishers and the local historical association ”De Poemp” came up with the idea to dedicate a series of articles to the history of diamond polishing factories in Kempen. This was followed by the project “Schitterrened Geslepen” (Sparkling Polish), where seasoned polishers were interviewed on a large scale.  The polishers’ testimonies became the basis of the Kempen Diamond Center in Nijlen.

In addition to photos and historical information you can find interviews and video fragments concerning diamond processing in Kempen. The Kempen Diamond Center takes you back in time to relive the glory days.

You can discover the diamond center every day of the week (except on Mondays and during the weekend) from 9:30 to 16:30, and during the first weekend of every month. Admission is free.
