Is sending rejection letters necessary?

Sending rejection letters to applicants that didn’t get the job is free advertising for your company as it creates a positive image. These letters prove that all applicants are treated equally in your search for the perfect candidate. It gives candidates the feeling they got a fair and honest chance at the job.

Research from the UK bases assessment company SHL shows that companies that fail to send an answer to applicants might even lose customers. People who are applying and their friends and familiy are often customers themselves.

36% of candidates complains to friends and family about non professional application procedures – 9% voices their frustration using social media such as twitter and blogs.

Even if you have very little time to deal with these administrative procedures, you better think twice about the impact of not sending rejection letters.

You can find a few examples of rejection letters on: http://www.tuxx.be/brieven/sollicitatie/afwijzing/
