CONCEPT
Next year, Antwerp will host the first edition of the unique International Film Festival Antwerpen (IFFA), and you can be an integral part of it!
Taking place from March 10-15, 2020, in the beautiful Elizabeth Hall and various theaters throughout the city, the IFFA will focus on films, filmmakers and actors that promote diversity and have a positive impact on society. The awards will be called DIVAs, or ‘Diversity Film Awards’, and will be the first international film awards to celebrate diversity in the film industry. The DIVAs will be presented during a spectacular award ceremony.
REQUEST FOR PROPOSAL
The DIVA Awards will be modeled after the “Peaceful Hand” sculpture by Yan Shufen, as displayed in the Antwerp Central Station. A miniature version of the sculpture, specially made for IFFA, will be presented to the DIVA Award winners.
In addition to the smaller sculptures, IFFA wants to create a unique, bigger version of the award to serve as an eye-catcher to generate media attention. This award will be showcased at the Elizabeth Hall throughout the event. It will serve as a ‘challenge cup’ or special award, which will be awarded only after multiple achievements over the course of several years. This means it will feature prominently at the IFFA film festival for several consecutive years.
AWDC & IFFA are looking for a diamond trader or jewelry company to partner with artist Yan Shufen to create a design for this special version of the award, featuring diamonds in any shape or form. The material and color of the award are still open for discussion.
RULES
- We expect you to add diamonds to the existing sculpture in a creative way that elevates the award and makes it a real eye-catcher.
- Your proposal needs to contain a detailed description of what you envision the design to be, if possible supported by a draft sketch or visualization.
- Your proposal needs to give a realistic idea of what kind and how many diamonds will be provided and how they will be set into the sculpture.
- Your proposal needs to include a feasible timeline for the production process on your end of the partnership (working out the design and setting the stones).
- Costs for the material of the sculpture, the diamonds and setting the stones are to be covered by the diamond partner.
RETURN FOR YOUR COMPANY
- Your logo and/or company name or presentation in all DIVA Awards communications: press releases, website, social media channels, etc.
- Your logo and/or company name on banners and other visual items at the DIVA Awards ceremony in the Queen Elisabeth Hall & Atrium.
- Your company name and/or logo in all Film Festival communications.
- International Press Release announcing the Partnership (October 2019).
- Video on ‘the making of’ the sculpture Award in your workshop.
- Press Conference to present the sculpture award (1st week of February 2020).
- Showcase with award and company visibility in the Queen Elisabeth Hall & Atrium during the festival with photo opportunity for festival visitors (March 2020).
- Photos of awards and winners at the Award Ceremony (March 12, 2020).
- Your company will receive mention in the official Aftermovie of the 1st edition of the IFFA.
- Showcase of the Award in th DIVA museum, all-year round (TBC).
- VIP Experience Packages for the DIVA Awards ceremony (TBD).
- Film Festival Tickets (TBD).
- Public and Partner database for promotional use.

30 Aug. - Deadline to submit proposals
2 - 6 Sept. - 1st selection round
9 - 13 Sept. - Meetings with IFFA, AWDC and artist to pitch proposals
16 Sept. - Final selection round and winner announcement
October - Press Release announcing the partnership
January - Delivery of final sculpture
February - Press conference presentation of sculpture at DIVA Awards
10 - 15 March - IFFA!
