GDPR Seminar (1st of October 2018)

1 Oct 2018

Since May 25th, 2018, the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) has entered into force. This EU regulation was designed to harmonize data privacy laws across Europe, to protect and empower all EU citizens data privacy and to reshape the way organizations across the region approach data privacy.

This legal framework has implications for all businesses processing personal data, including diamond traders. To help diamond traders in their compliance with this regulatory framework, the AWDC AML & Compliance Helpdesk has drafted an extensive Q&A on this matter and has provided templates for you to use. If you follow the guidelines of the Q&A and use the templates accordingly, you should be in compliance with the GDPR legal framework. If any unclarities or questions remain about what you should do, this seminar will help through all the requirements step by step and provide a platform to address your questions.

During this seminar, Patrick Van Eecke, lawyer and professor at the University of Antwerp, will explain thoroughly what diamond traders are expected to do to comply with GDPR in their businesses, on the basis of this Q&A and templates.

From 14:30h to 15:30h, Patrick Van Eecke will give a presentation on the GDPR implications for diamond traders. From 15:30h to 16:30h, there will be room for specific questions and answers.

Participation is free of charge. The seminar will be held in English. A certificate of attendance will be issued, which we recommend you to keep as proof of your GDPR knowledge.

Please note places are limited and let us know if you are unable to join us after having registered for one of the seminars. If you do not join and omit to notify us in advance, you will be charged a cancellation fee of €100.
