This is how to answer, “Why should I hire you?”

dream job diamond

A question often asked during a job interview is: “Why should I hire you and not another candidate?” What is the best way to answer this question? Making sure you are well prepared is the message.

When a company asks you why you would be a better candidate than somebody else, they expect to hear about your strong points, and why you match the profile. It would be wise to be prepared for this so you do not have to search for what to say and start stumbling over your words. So before your job interview, consider the following:

What are my strong points?

Write down several of your strong points. These may be specific skills such as knowledge of computers and languages, but also personal characteristics such as engagement, motivation, flexibility, etc.

Are these strong points important for the position?

Place the job description next to your list and look for where they overlap. Actually, you already did the same thought exercise when you applied for the job, because when writing your CV and application letter, you had to pay attention to these specific points. Of course, during a job interview you can delve deeper into these points, so the time and effort spent thinking about them will pay off.

What is the most important thing?

Naturally, it makes no sense to spend five minutes explaining to the recruiter how flexible you are. He will most like want to hear more than just that. It might be a good idea to highlight your affinity with the diamond industry during the interview. Do you already have experience in a similar position? In that case, you can draw attention to the successful projects you have realized.

Above all, make sure you come across as highly motivated, and that the recruiter can see that you know what you are talking about. It is also very important to know what was written in the job description, so you can respond to it directly.

We wish you every success in preparing your job interview.
