On Tuesday 25 August in Antwerp City Hall, the Antwerp-based International Center for Corporate Learning on Business Ethics & Sustainability (Antwerp ITCCO) announced to its partners that UNITAR – the United Nations training and research institute located in Geneva – has recognized it as fully-fledged International Training Centre for Authorities and Leaders (CIFAL), associated with the UN. As of late October, CIFAL Flanders will be the new name of Antwerp ITCCO. CIFAL Flanders, headquartered in the Bell complex in Antwerp, is now formally part of UNITAR’s international network of 14 CIFAL training centers.

Leys Hall in Antwerp City Hall was filled with more than 60 attendees for a festive session opened by Claude Marinower, Antwerp’s alderman for education, and Ari Epstein, chairman of Antwerp ITCCO. The new CIFAL Flanders logo was unveiled to loud applause. Peter Wollaert, general manager of Antwerp ITCCO, presented CIFAL Flanders’ mission and vision. John Heller, CEO of Argenta, closed the pre-launch with an appeal to the business sector to reinforce sustainability in society.

CIFAL Flanders’ new website goes online on 24 October, on the occasion of the United Nations’ 70th anniversary. In early 2016, CIFAL Flanders will be officially launched in Antwerp during a ceremony that Nikhil Seth, future Executive Director of UNITAR, is expected to attend.
