TRADE AFTER BREXIT: EORI NUMBER REQUIRED
On the 29th of March 2019, the United Kingdom invoked Article 50 of the Treaty of the European Union. Unless an extension is mutually agreed, this means the UK is due to leave the EU on the 29thof March 2019.
At this moment, a hard Brexit is becoming increasingly likely, meaning organizations that trade with the UK have to prepare themselves to limit its impact on their trade flows, especially those who are new to the concept of customs formalities.
To fulfill customs obligations, it is necessary that organizations register for an EORI number.

HANDEL NA BREXIT: EORI-NUMMER NOODZAKELIJK
In principe treedt het Verenigd Koninkrijk op 29 maart 2019 uit de Europese Unie (hierna: EU). De onderhandelingen over de scheiding gingen van start op 19 juni 2017.
Vermits er op dit moment nog onduidelijkheid is met betrekking tot de timing en het al dan niet goedkeuren van het terugtrekkingsakkoord, moeten ondernemingen die handel drijven met het VK zich voorbereiden zodat er, bij een eventuele hard Brexit, zo weinig mogelijk verstoringen van de handelsstromen zijn.
Om te kunnen voldoen aan de verplichtingen inzake douane, is het noodzakelijk dat deze ondernemingen beschikken over een EORI-nummer.

En principe, le Royaume-Uni (ci-après RU) quittera l’Union Européenne (ci-après UE) le 29 mars 2019.
Vu l’incertitude actuelle concernant le timing et la ratification de l’accord de retrait, les entreprises qui commercent avec le RU doivent se préparer afin, en cas de hard Brexit, de limiter les perturbations des échanges commerciaux.
La Commission Européenne impose aux opérateurs économiques qui entrent en contact avec la douane de s’identifier au moyen d’un numéro EORI.
