Organization
AWDC, a Public-Private Partnership, is the official representative body for the Antwerp diamond industry. Its mission is twofold: to reinforce Antwerp’s position as the world’s leading diamond trade center and promote the image of diamonds to a general audience.
The Board of Directors is selected directly from members of the diamond community itself, guaranteeing that AWDC never loses sight of the interests of the people it serves. It consists of: six board members directly elected from all levels of the trade, ensuring equal representation; three members representing the diamond bourses; one member representing the industry; one representing the workers council, and; one independent director.
The CEO, serving as the direct link between the Board of Directors and Management Team that conducts the daily activities of AWDC. The CEO oversees the efficient functioning of AWDC, is responsible for AWDC realizing its mission and serves as the official voice of the organization in Belgium and internationally.
The Management Team is tasked with implementating AWDC’s mission through the workings of its eight Departments: Business Development, Business Intelligence, Diamond Office, Finance, HR & Legal/Compliance, Operations, Public Affairs and Public Relations & Communications. AWDC also has a dedicated Security Office, with the goal of promoting the security of people and goods in the Antwerp diamond community.
AWDC also has a Standing Committee composed of twelve members representing leading organizations across the Antwerp diamond landscape.
Finally, AWDC maintains a close working relationship with HRD Antwerp diamond lab. HRD Antwerp diamond lab is one of the largest diamond labs in the world issuing reliable diamond certificates, grading and jewelry reports.
