On the occasion of International Women’s Day, we hosted a dedicated event together with the Watch & Jewellery Initiative 2030, bringing together industry professionals to discuss gender equality in the diamond sector.
Held in an intimate setting at AWDC, the session explored the challenges and barriers that still exist in advancing gender equality within the industry, while also highlighting opportunities for companies to take meaningful action. Participants exchanged perspectives on how the sector can continue to evolve towards more inclusive and diverse workplaces.
In the session, attendees were joined by Iris Van der Veken of the WJI2030 and Anna Falth from UN Women. Together with Karen Rentmeesters, they provided insights into the benefits of gender equality in the workplace, the current state of the industry, and the role the diamond sector can play in driving further progress.
Following the presentations, participants engaged in a roundtable discussion, reflecting on structural obstacles and identifying practical steps companies can take to foster more inclusive working environments.
AWDC plans to further support the industry in advancing this topic by making use of the tools and frameworks developed by the Watch & Jewellery Initiative 2030, helping companies translate commitments into concrete action.
At AWDC, we are proud to be an organization where women play an essential role across our teams. Did you know that more than half of the employees at AWDC are women? We continue to recognize their dedication and expertise, while continuing to support greater inclusion and opportunities for women throughout the diamond industry in the years to come.
