Antwerp-based tech company iTraceiT has developed a new digital traceability tool designed to include artisanal diamond miners in the global transparency journey, by making it very accessible, tackling previous challenges such as language barriers and illiteracy with for example icons. They developed it with the support of the City of Antwerp and innovation partner Verhaert, the project aims to bridge the gap between high-tech solutions and the overlooked origins of the diamond value chain.
This milestone was made possible through Antwerp’s Diamond Innovation Opportunity Programme, reaffirming the city’s role not only as the world’s most trusted diamond center but also as a hub for (ethical) innovation. AWDC applauds this initiative, which brings visibility and empowerment to small-scale miners, which anchors Antwerp firmly at the forefront of responsible sourcing and global diamond supply chain transparency.
We wish the iTraceiT team the best of luck with this exciting new project!
