On February 19, the Antwerp diamond district welcomed U.S. Ambassador to Belgium Bill White and his husband Bryan Eure for an in-depth introduction to the world of diamonds.
During the visit, the Ambassador was immersed in the inner workings of the industry through a hands-on diamond workshop. The program also included visits to HB Antwerp, the Antwerp Diamond Bourse and Diamond Office, offering a comprehensive overview of the craftsmanship, expertise and rigorous processes that define Antwerp’s diamond community.
A mini-expo hosted at AWDC’s offices allowed several Antwerp-based diamond companies to showcase exceptional stones, highlighting the city’s fully integrated diamond ecosystem where trading, compliance, valuation, manufacturing expertise and global distribution come together in one location.
The United States remains one of the most important markets for natural diamonds. The visit provided an opportunity to present the precision, skill and dedication that underpin every diamond passing through Antwerp. Discussions also touched on the broader political and macro-economic context impacting the sector, including the G7 import measures on Russian diamonds and the importance of maintaining a level playing field for companies operating within a transparent and regulated framework.
By opening its doors to international stakeholders, Antwerp continues to demonstrate how centuries of heritage are combined with innovation, compliance and professionalism, reinforcing its role at the heart of the global natural diamond trade.
