International Day of Yoga – Antwerp a rousing success: Photos now online Thursday, 25 June, 2015 Events

The Antwerp Indian Association and Antwerp World Diamond Centre (AWDC) are extremely pleased with the attendance at the International Day of Yoga in Antwerp last Sunday. Nearly 1,500 yoga enthusiasts participated in the open-air yoga session. The event was part of a global initiative proposed by Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, which was adopted by 192 U.N. Member States. Photos from the event and television reports are now online.

On Monday 6 July, the third stage of the Tour de France starts in Antwerp. The Tour de France is not only the biggest cycling race, but is also the third largest sporting event in the world. Each year, the Antwerp World Diamond Centre supports several sporting events in and around Antwerp in order to bring its various cultural communities closer together and to promote the diamond trade. Naturally, the diamond industry could not miss out on such a major event in the City of Antwerp.

The AWDC Security Office (AWDC SO) and the Antwerp Local Police (LPA) work closely together to ensure the safety and security of the Antwerp diamond industry and community. Some matters of crucial importance were resolved as a result of this successful collaboration.

In the context of the "Integrated Anti-Tiger Kidnapping Program" (IATKP), AWDC Security Office announces the following monthly Anti-Tiger Kidnapping briefing, which will take place on Thursday June 25, 2015 from 11 a.m. – 12 noon in the Lounge of the AWDC building on the 9th floor. This briefing is addressed to CEOs, middle management and staff working in the Antwerp diamond sector.

"Cyber Crime Awareness Briefing" for the Antwerp Diamond Community Friday, 19 June, 2015 Security

There are several physical threats applicable to Antwerp diamond companies: fraud, theft, switching, robbery, burglary, tiger kidnapping … For a couple of months now, AWDC SO has observed another increasing threat: cyber crime. Examples of cyber crime include, but are not limited to: email hacks, caller ID fraud, money exchange fraud, invoice fraud, bank transfer fraud, malware attacks …

AWDC SO wants to increase awareness in the Antwerp Diamond Community about the recent surge of cyber crime and offer preventive security measures. This briefing is focused on and addressed to CEOs, GMs, CFOs and personnel, mandated to order or perform financial transactions such as payments, money exchanges and transfers.

AWDC SO will organize the "Cyber Crime Awareness Briefings" on a monthly basis.

• Recommendation and description of effective security measures.

Antwerp diamond industry well represented at the Hong Kong June show Thursday, 18 June, 2015 Events

The Hong Kong Jewelry and Gem Fair will take place from 25 to 28 June. It is the last important show before the entire diamond industry goes into summer recess. Like every year, the Antwerp diamond industry will be present in large numbers. 81 Antwerp diamond companies will be represented in the Antwerp Diamond Pavilion.

Already more than 1,000 participants for the International Day of Yoga in Antwerp Thursday, 18 June, 2015 Events

On June 21, the first International Day of Yoga will be celebrated around the world. The Antwerp Indian Association and AWDC have joined efforts to host the first edition of this event in Antwerp. With a few days still to go before the event, already more than a thousand people have registered!
