Compliance Week was a success in preparation for the AML Exam

In the week of April 20th, the Antwerp diamond community gathered at the Antwerp Diamond Bourse for the very first edition of ‘Compliance Week’, a focused initiative dedicated to anti-money laundering (AML) legislation and its practical application in Belgium, especially for he diamond sector.

The week opened on Monday with an expert session featuring representatives from the CFI and Panis en Tuerlinckx Advocaten. Attendees gained valuable insights into how AML regulations are implemented in Belgium and why compliance remains a critical priority for the diamond industry and beyond.

From Tuesday onwards, the program shifted into a more hands-on format, with a comprehensive training series for AML officers from various diamond companies. Participants were guided through AML requirements from A to Z, equipping them with the knowledge needed ahead of the first-ever large-scale, in-person AML exam scheduled for May 19.

Compliance Week marked an important step in strengthening awareness and preparedness across the sector. It also reaffirmed AWDC’s role in supporting the industry with practical guidance and training initiatives tailored to today’s regulatory landscape.

With Compliance Week and our new approach to supporting the Antwerp diamond industry wherever we can in their AML and compliance journey, we aim to unburden our constituents so they can focus on what truly matters, their business, and be a true partner in compliance.
